(Southern Spectacle, Northern Specter: West Indian Land/escape in North American Literature)
研究簡介：
The ties between the West Indies and North America have been ongoing throughout the history of both regions. West Indian literature refers to a complex and particular condition, which transcends regional boundaries. This project adopts a transnational perspective on their work to shed light on current processes of creolization outside the West Indies. A comparative perspective urges us to unveil hidden connections, influences and dialogues between writers, artists and intellectuals. This project gauges the archipelagic landscaping in multiethnic writing. The three-year project studies three writers from different island nations: Austin Clarke (Afro-Barbadian), Cyril Dabydeen (Indo-Guyanese), and Shani Mootoo (Irish-Indo-Trinidadian).
